Fattore stated that he predicts a significant increase in exports of green and red seedless table grapes with exports to destinations around the world reaching around 18 million boxes and 14 to 15 million boxes, respectively.
This increase will also be seen in Peruvian grape exports in general, he said. “Last year Peru exported 48 million boxes. This year we foresee around 55 or 56 million boxes ”.
As for when the season will begin to end, his forecast is that this would occur towards the end of January or the beginning of February when Peruvian producers slow down and Chilean exports begin.
Still, despite the good quality and high yield of the harvest, Fattore said that increased and concentrated volumes could likely affect the market, particularly in the United States.
"We
have seen an increase, about 21% in volume, to the United States since last
year," he said. "The volume increase will [probably] affect prices
throughout the Peruvian season and will probably affect Chile as well."
