In the presentation you can see
in detail the agricultural exports of Peru by continents and its main most
exported products until august 2020
Peru's agro-export activity has
shown unprecedented dynamism during the last decade. Non-traditional
agricultural products such as asparagus, grapes, avocado, mango, paprika and
many others have been put at the forefront of growth. More and more companies
and areas cultivated or engaged in the production of these products, which have
captured the attention of experts and policy authorities, given their special
characteristics in terms of production, trade and employment. It is evident that
the international demand - growing and sustained - for these products has been
the fundamental stimulus for the expansion of the agro-export activity.
Although the corresponding prices have risen little, and even fallen recently,
the quantities demanded from international markets have expanded continuously.
Europe and the United States have
been the majority customers, while international competition between producers
is increasing and new players seem to enter. Various factors have played in
favor of Peruvian products in the world market, which have come to position
themselves in first place in cases such as asparagus in 2008. From an
international perspective, this non-traditional agro-export dynamism has also
been observed in other Latin American countries, mainly in Central America:
their agro-export boom of fruits and agricultural food in general shows
similarities with our experience. As the literature indicates, we are facing a
new international agricultural development model.
