Agricultural exports from the
non-traditional sector totaled 6.021 million dollars, between January and
November 2020, an amount that represented a growth of 8.1%, compared to what
was registered in the same period of 2019, the Institute for Trade Research and
Development reported today Exterior of the Lima Chamber of Commerce (Idexcam).
"This sector represented
17.2% of the total exported until November. Its positive performance was mainly
explained by higher shipments of fruits such as blueberries valued at 936
million dollars (increase of 29.21%), avocados, 755 million dollars (0.16%);
fresh grapes, 712 million dollars (18.37%); fresh mangoes, 238 million dollars
(19.25%) ", said the executive director of Idexcam, Carlos Posada.
Also, the shipments of
vegetables, mainly prepared or canned asparagus for 90 million dollars (an
increase of 5.32%), contributed to this advance; prepared or canned artichokes
for 85 million dollars (7.44%) and fresh or chilled onions valued at 80 million
dollars (8.75%), indicated the Idexcam.
Destination markets
Among the main destination
markets for the fruits were the United States (USA), whose shipments amounted
to 1.328 million dollars; The Netherlands, $ 842 million; UK, $ 247 million;
Spain, 187 million dollars and China, 137 million dollars, he said.
While the main destination
markets for vegetables were the US, $ 532 million; Spain, 179 million dollars;
Mexico, 43 million dollars; The Netherlands, $ 38 million and the United Kingdom,
$ 35 million, he said.
Likewise, the handicrafts and
decoration sector also reported a favorable performance in November with an
exported value of 915,673 dollars, meaning a growth of 9.48% compared to the
same period in 2019 and with a participation of less than 1%, it reported.
Craft products
Among the products with the
greatest demand in the international market were straw baskets or baskets,
paintings, paintings and drawings made by hand, original works of statuary or
sculpture, candles and tapers and collages, he mentioned.
The main destinations in this
sector were the United States, with shipments valued at $ 802,181; Chile, $
20,250; Ecuador 18,824 dollars; Colombia, $ 15,600 and Spain, $ 13,575, he
said.
